Hecht to supervise the construction of this fort in order to defend Taiwan's naval defense in 1886 and Liu Ming Chuan personally inscribed the “The Key to the North Gate” on the lintel of the fort gate.
In 1985, the Taipei County Government declared The Hobe Fort a Grade II historical site.
